As we come to the end of an extraordinary year, Butterfly Children’s Hospices (BCH) has some momentous adjustments to announce. The end of this year will signal a changing of the guard. Before all the unprecedented changes and challenges brought about by COVID-19 took place, Lyn had planned her retirement with the full support of the BCH Board of Trustees. This strategic transition is the culmination of Lyn’s dream to build local paediatric palliative care capacity and capability in China. Lyn’s retirement is a celebration of this achievement. The world events have not swayed Lyn’s commitment to ensuring that best practice paediatric palliative care flourishes within China, nor has it altered the BCH Boards support of her planned retirement and future plans.
Congratulations
We want to take this opportunity to congratulate Lyn on her retirement and an esteemed life of service to the development of children’s palliative care in China. Lyn’s goal and dream has always been to embed the concept of children’s palliative care into Chinese culture. Two years ago we successfully transitioned from foreign nurses to all Chinese nursing staff and we are proud to announce that we have now transitioned the Butterfly Home in Changsha to Chinese management. This success builds on the previous transition of the Butterfly Home in Nanjing to Chinese management, under the name Rainbow Home for Disabled Children. We will share more information about the exciting developments in Changsha soon, but today we want to celebrate Lyn and all that she has achieved over the last fourteen years. You can read what Lyn has to say about her retirement here.
Lyn’s legacy gift
Thanks to our wonderful supporters, an astonishing expression of love has been shown over these past few weeks. This fundraising campaign is a wonderful celebration of how Lyn’s dream has been supported by so many and that, without you, none of the past 10 years would have been possible.
Lyn’s final gift to the children will be reflected in the funds raised from our holiday giving campaign. If you would like to read more about this or donate to this legacy gift, click here.
