John has been in our home for over seven years, since he was only four years old. In this time, he has made incredible progress and we have had the privilege to watch him grow and develop. John has become independent in numerous daily skills, including feeding; something which we thought we would never see.
The staff in the Butterfly Home love John dearly and love having him around the home. However, they also knew that as John was getting older, the Butterfly Home was not the most suitable environment for him to continue to develop in. Being around children who are very sick with complex medical needs, was not the ideal environment for John anymore. He needed to socialise and engage with children of his own age and development.
Just before Christmas we said goodbye to John as he graduated from our care. He moved into a group home within the orphanage, with children of his own age. So far, he is adjusting well to the change and is interacting well with those around him. It is never easy to see a child leave our home and he is greatly missed around the home.
His greatest need is still a forever family of his own. We know he would make a perfect son and be a wonderful addition to the right family. Contact superkids@gladney.org directly for more information if you think John could be your son.
We hope 2020 will be the year that John finally finds his forever family.
