We are primarily a home for children with life-limiting conditions – and for many of our children, we become the only family they have. We make it our first priority to be a strong loving family, the kind that every kid deserves. Whether their lives are long or short, we have to give each child more than food, shelter and medical care – we are their family.
But life is full of miracles, and sometimes our children leave our home for a different future. They are beautifully resilient kids, surrounded by love and given great medical care – but those factors can’t fully explain it. Sometimes, there are just miracles in this place, and we are blessed to witness that. We see miracles of healing, and sometimes we get to see another – the miracle of our kids finding family! Nothing makes us happier than seeing our little ones in the arms of a loving family. Watching an abandoned child become a precious son or daughter never gets old!
We couldn’t dare imagine this for tiny Jack when we first met him.
He had a massive journey ahead, full of hurdles. He had to survive long enough to access surgery, then survive a huge surgery and endure a long painful recovery. Yet this determined little character did it all!
He even spent his first birthday in hospital! We were so proud of him and his can-do attitude.
And now Jack is a healthy, happy much-loved son. We couldn’t ask for a better outcome! He lives in the United States, with his parents, and his brother and sister. They have a yard to play in, and have begun making precious sibling memories together. His Mama calls him a “joy and a blessing” in their lives.
Together, they look at his Butterfly Home life-book, and can see how many people from around the world have loved their little boy. And now we all join in rejoicing for him, and wishing him a wonderful life! Go Jack – we love you. Have the best life.
