Reflections from Chloe

Chloe was one of our long term nurses from the Philippines, who has now returned home. She took a moment to share her reflections about working in the Butterfly Home.

“In 2015 I had the privilege to go to China for work and that was one of the best decisions I made. The Butterfly Home children made everything that we do worth it and made me fully understand why I became a nurse in the first place. Caring for the children and ensuring that they are comfortable and happy is what I looked forward to doing everyday. They inspire me to be better in what I do and to give the best of my abilities. Although it was tough and challenging at times, we were able to get through it because of the teamʼs effort and support.

I have witnessed miracles happening in the lives of the children and transformations over the course of weeks that just left me in awe and makes one realise just how inspiring childrenʼs resilience can be. I couldnʼt be happier that I was given the opportunity to make even a slight difference in the lives of our Butterfly babies and in Butterfly Home as an organisation. It is a truly humbling experience to be able to love and care for them no matter what state they are in. I am grateful to have met a lot of people whoʼs commitment to serving humanity is beyond admirable and inspires me the most and for that I am thankful to everyone who made everything possible for Butterfly Home to continue its mission in China. I will always carry with me all the things I have learned and experienced during my time in China.”
