Reuben celebrates his 8th birthday this week! This is his third birthday spent in our home and each celebration is bigger than the one before.
When Reuben arrived he was extremely fragile and malnourished. He is much chubbier now, but continues to struggle with weight gain. His nurses keep a close eye on his weight and adjust his supplements as needed. His overall health has improved and his current goals are focused around physiotherapy including muscle strengthening.
Reuben loves being outdoors, with his new wheelchair making these outings easier and more frequent. His favourite toy at the moment is a mirror – he loves seeing himself and will make funny faces then laugh at his reflection. Reuben’s laughter is infectious and he brings cheer to each day in the home.
He is making great progress with Luna, our early education teacher and we believe he will have a bright future. His adoption file has not been made yet, but if there is a family out there who may be interested in bringing Reuben home, please contact us at info@butterflyhospice.org for more information. Although he has complex needs, we believe he would thrive with a forever family of his own.
