We have recently celebrated Children’s Day in China. Its actually not exclusive to China, though different countries seem to celebrate on different days. And some countries get into the spirit more than others – it’s certainly a big deal here! Children have the day off from school, and there are usually events and parties organized for the day. Often museums and galleries will open for free, and shopping centres and parks might have free entertainment. Chinese children really love this day!

Our Butterfly children certainly enjoyed Children’s Day – they loved the sunshine, music and treats. They are a bit small to grasp the full meaning of all the fuss. It was first proclaimed by the World Conference for the Well-being of Children in 1925, and one of it’s objectives is to remember and advocate for children who are suffering. It’s a day of joyful celebration, but it’s also meant to remind adults that children’s welfare is important. Of course, we feel pretty lucky in that respect – we spend every day with these absolutely gorgeous children and they remind us all the time. Just a few moments with one of our kids is guaranteed inspiration!
